This is a game that can be fun when you are trying it out. The holy grail has yet to be found, but anyone who thinks they have found it, please let me know! I feel like I'm starting to slog through AoW Planetfall and still playing the main campaign.

I remember being enthralled with Sword of the Stars series in the day. Does any of the DLC add to the experience? But yes, after playing for so many hours, one tends to not want to start the game over again, unless the experience is dramatically different.įor new customers, the current sale makes the game almost free (imo) and warrants an immediate buy. This one does have many different starting options and difficulties that might challenge someone like me. There are few games that can make it through the long haul. I still have not played the old Distant Worlds game, even though I bought it ages ago at full price. Stellaris has more too it, even if the factions are rather generic, i've completed Endless Space a few times, same ♥♥♥♥, unfallen typically useless under AI control.Įach playthrough on Stellaris has been different, and you would want to avoid battles with the AI at times, especially if they have a federation sized fleet, but like i said they may end up just avoiding you instead, even if their fleet is 3x bigger.

The AI in this does attack, but by midgame (even early game), if you know how to use your fleet and cards you'll have a fleet composition that will crush practically any AI Fleet without a hitch, so it ends up like fly swatting as they send their meagre fleet that is far from maxed, and composed of the same ♥♥♥♥♥♥ designs that it ends up a chore playing it. The only trouble is since the recent updates the AI has gotten worse, it tends to leave it's 50k+ fleet and do nothing with it.īy the midgame in this, everything is explored and you'll be well on your way to conquest without any major events. Stellaris atleast has a sort of continuing exploration well into mid game with the L-Cluster and random events, then you have the Mid & Endgame Crisis. The idea is great, but it's empty, the AI is useless, and even worse with the unfallen, so the end game ends up being an utter bore. Is Stellaris any better?
